The Opportunity
The Data Management and Data Loads Librarian (Physical and Electronic) works as a part of the Metadata team to supply descriptive metadata for the Library’s content and collections via data loads delivered by content providers and other content-capture processes (such as locally-created spreadsheets). The position also contributes to the long-term management of electronic resources through regular data clean up and maintenance activities.
In this position you work collaboratively to ensure metadata is accurate, exchangeable, and supports findability and access. This includes contributing data to national and international partnerships (such as Trove, HathiTrust, WorldCat, ISNI, VIAF) to support users to find and access Library resources in a global context.
You will have an ability to initiate and administer projects under direction, provide training and guidance to Library team members in the application of those projects, as well as analyse and resolve complex issues.
Working collaboratively, you will provide support to projects and events and undertake a variety of general duties to meet the operational demands of the Collections and Technology portfolio.
To achieve success in this Data Management and Data Loads Librarian (Physical and Electronic) opportunity you will be able to demonstrate experience in the use of Alma Library Management System or similar, plus other library related systems for data management and maintenance work. Your keen problem solving capabilities will ensure you are able to support a varied range of data management, data load and quality assurance activities undertaken for both physical and electronic collections content.
