The Opportunity
The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is the largest faculty at Monash University and a global leader in health education and research. Within the Faculty, the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM) is one of the largest schools of public health in the Asia-Pacific region. Our vision is health and well-being for all people and communities, and we deliver on this by generating and translating impactful evidence, strengthening health systems, and shaping policy and practice.
We are seeking a talented Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join our team and lead initiatives that showcase the School’s achievements, strengthen our visibility, and support student recruitment. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our research, teaching, and engagement activities are promoted effectively across multiple platforms.
About the Role
In this role, you will:

Develop and implement the School’s marketing and communications strategy, with a strong emphasis on student recruitment and reputation building.

Act as the key liaison between SPHPM, the Faculty marketing team, and the University’s central Office of Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment.

Manage the SPHPM brand across digital and print channels, including the website, social media, newsletters, brochures and event collateral.

Provide expert marketing advice and support for events such as Open Day, seminars, short courses and fundraising activities.

Proactively identify opportunities to raise the School’s profile through media, conferences, public forums and community engagement.

Produce engaging written content, ensuring all communications reflect Monash branding and messaging guidelines.
This position also provides supervision to one staff member and requires strong leadership and collaborative skills.
About You
We are looking for a creative and motivated marketing and communications professional with:

A degree in public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field, with subsequent experience in a scientific/medical research setting, or equivalent experience/education.

A proven track record in managing marketing campaigns and positioning an organisation in competitive markets.

Strong interpersonal, relationship management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at senior levels.

Demonstrated expertise in developing media and communications strategies, including digital and print channels.

Excellent creative writing and editing skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality promotional materials under tight deadlines.

Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address emerging issues, risks and opportunities.
