The Opportunity

This position is located within the Student Experience portfolio. The portfolio is focussed on ensuring our audiences have the best possible experience - personalised to their interest and the way they want to engage with Monash.

We are seeking a passionate Senior Campus Experience and Major Events Coordinator to support the range of projects, programs and events designed to promote student engagement and campus life, enhancing the student experience at Monash University domestic campuses.

This role is more than just a project management position, it is creative and hands-on, requiring the ability to deliver innovative and engaging events and activities that capture the attention and imagination of the student community. From large-scale major events to grassroots campus experiences, this position brings ideas to life through expert project management, stakeholder collaboration and a deep understanding of what drives audience engagement. This position is a key liaison point between the Campus Experience and Major Events team, the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience) and Senior Vice-President, the University and internal and external client groups, and works closely with internal stakeholders and student associations to ensure alignment with objectives.

In this role you will:

  • Coordinate and administer the delivery of a high-quality program of campus-based events such as Graduations, Open Day, WinterFest, Orientation and more
  • Exercise strong budget management for the projects, programs and events managed
  • Undertake research, data analysis and management in relation to student engagement activities and major events
  • Lead a small team of casual and volunteer staff (predominantly students) 

The successful candidate will have

  • Excellent event and project management skills with a background in event management and a visible passion for coordinating high-quality events
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to form beneficial relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Staff management experience 
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and recommend solutions to challenging issues
