The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Commercialisation Associate - Physical Sciences at Monash University. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in the commercialisation of intellectual property (IP) emerging from Monash's physical sciences research, encompassing engineering, IT, and science disciplines.
Working closely with Monash Innovation staff, researchers, and stakeholders, you will be responsible for assessing the patentability of new inventions, identifying market opportunities and supporting our Commercialisation Managers to engage with potential partners and funders, and provide expert guidance on technology development for commercialisation.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should possess strong technical expertise in physical sciences, such as in engineering, science or IT, and an interest in developing a deep understanding of intellectual property principles and the patenting process.
Your prior experience in technology commercialisation, commercial research, and entrepreneurship would be invaluable, as would your ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to diverse audiences. Your proven track record of building and maintaining collaborative relationships, coupled with your analytical and problem-solving skills, will make you a valuable asset to our team.
The successful candidate will also have a relevant degree, preferably postgraduate, in chemistry, materials science, biomaterials, physics, chemical engineering or bioengineering. Experience in a commercial environment or exposure to Intellectual Property systems will be highly regarded.
