The Opportunity
The Monash Research Office is seeking an experienced research administration specialist to join the Office as a Team Leader in the post-awards service area.
We are looking for a leader to lead the administrative activities from outcome notification to closeout of the award from national and international funding sources. You will have demonstrated experience in delivering the services for setups, variations and reporting requirements for grants, fellowships, contract research, donations, tenders and consultancies. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Awards this critical management position is responsible for leading a team of research administrators in the timely and effective delivery of research award services to the Monash research community.
Your key responsibilities
- Coordinating the operation of value-add research award-related services
- Provision of specialist, expert advice, and reports for senior management
- Coaching and mentoring staff to achieve a highly trained, motivated, and efficient team with a strong customer focus
- Working collaboratively within the MRO to support team goals
- Developing and implementing plans, processes, policies, KPIs and frameworks to support and improve performance and success
- Developing and maintaining strong partnerships and networks with other relevant business units, functional areas, and internal and external stakeholders
About you
You must be looking to advance your career in research management at one of Australia’s largest and highly ranked universities.
You will have a relevant qualification and substantial experience in research management. Experience with managing significant volumes of post-award set-up, variations, transfers and reporting is highly desirable.
Your expertise and initiative, combined with your ability to work as an excellent team player will be vital to your success in this role, as well as:
- Significant knowledge and understanding of the research environment and funding schemes.
- Demonstrated project management, prioritisation, and time management skills with an ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines in high volume environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams
- High level problem solving and analytical skills, ability to research and analyse material, identify key issues, and produce high level outcomes.
- Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and consultation skills, including an ability to exercise initiative, tact, and discretion in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential matters.
