The Opportunity

Are you passionate about leading research initiatives and driving strategic direction in a world-class academic environment? Monash University’s Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is seeking a dynamic Senior Research Manager to join our team.

About the Role:

As the Senior Research Manager, you will provide leadership and strategic direction for all research activities within the Faculty. Collaborating closely with the Director, Research and Research Degrees, and the Deputy Dean (Research), you will manage our research portfolio, encompassing policy and program development, strategic initiatives, data management, and financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning and development of research initiatives
  • Develop and implement policies and processes in collaboration with senior staff
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations on strategic initiatives and funding schemes
  • Coordinate faculty participation in benchmarking and research quality evaluations
  • Manage the Faculty’s research support budget of up to $5 million
  • Oversee research administration across all campuses
  • Support and advise senior leadership in decision-making processes
  • Participate actively in University committees and contribute to strategic planning
  • Manage initiatives for early and mid-career researchers and oversee the Faculty’s prizes and awards strategy

What We’re Looking For:

  • Postgraduate qualifications with extensive, relevant experience and/or equivalent management expertise
  • In-depth understanding of the academic environment, including knowledge of University and Faculty policies
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
  • Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of motivating and managing teams
  • High-level interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships and networks
  • Advanced computer literacy, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite
