Reporting to the Vice-President (Advancement), the Senior Director, Advancement Strategy & Operations leads the core strategic and operational engine of Advancement. This pivotal role blends strategic planning with operational rigour and creative ambition, ensuring programs are supported by high-performing teams, integrated digital platforms, trusted data, and streamlined processes, positioning Monash to deliver impactful campaign outcomes, sustained philanthropic growth, and enriched alumni communities.

As a member of the Advancement Leadership Team, you will oversee Gift Processing & Administration (Donor Relations), Prospect Research, and Campaign Strategy & Analysis. You will lead Advancement-wide strategy, provide expert evidence-based advice to senior stakeholders, and partner across faculties and central divisions to align priorities with institutional goals. You will drive continuous improvement of fundraising and alumni engagement programs, underpinning a robust and tangible culture of philanthropy and engagement for the University and its communities.

In this role, you will lead key initiatives, shape donor and prospect management policies, and spearhead major strategic programs, including the University’s next multi-year comprehensive campaign, fostering a culture of performance, collaboration, and philanthropy.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Proven executive leadership in large, complex organisations, with a track record of driving strategic direction, planning, and measurable organisational outcomes.

  • Extensive experience leading high-performing teams and establishing robust governance, policy, and planning frameworks.

  • Strong expertise in developing and executing fundraising and engagement strategies that achieve ambitious targets and campaign success.

  • Advanced analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex strategic challenges and translate data into actionable insights.

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing abilities, with the judgement and discretion to manage sensitive executive-level matters.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the systems, strategy and infrastructure that enable transformative philanthropy at one of Australia’s leading universities.
