The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Director, HR Business Partnering provides enterprise wide leadership of the HR Business Partnering function at Monash University.
This is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for elevating the strategic partnership between HR and the University’s faculties and portfolios. You will lead a high-performing, service oriented team that strengthens workforce capability, organisational performance and the employee experience in alignment with Monash’s strategic plan, Impact 2030.
With a high degree of autonomy and influence, you will:
- Lead and evolve the HR Business Partnering model to deliver strategic, insight-driven workforce solutions
- Strengthen executive level partnerships and position HR as a trusted advisor
- Uplift capability in organisational design, workforce planning, succession and talent strategy
- Enable performance excellence through pragmatic and forward-looking people initiatives
- Guide leaders through complex employee matters and local change environments
- Contribute to the continued evolution of Monash’s HR operating model
This role balances strategic transformation with operational excellence, ensuring the consistent delivery of responsive, high-quality HR services across a complex, multi-campus and global university environment.
About You
You are a senior HR leader with extensive experience leading either a specialised or broad generalist HR function within a large, complex organisation.
You bring:
- A demonstrated ability to translate enterprise strategy into impactful people initiatives
- Strong commercial and organisational acumen
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing capability at executive level
- A track record of leading high-performing teams through change and ambiguity
- Experience uplifting HR capability, credibility and impact at scale
