The Opportunity

The Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in enabling the AiLECS Lab to undertake its research in domains of varying complexity and sensitivity, addressing a distinctive need already recognised by the University and the Australian Federal Police, with a focus on real-world community safety outcomes.

Reporting to the Lab Co‑Directors, the Operations Manager will proactively oversee the operations of the lab, ensuring that strategic goals are translated into effective, coordinated action. The successful candidate will balance big‑picture thinking with hands‑on execution, providing leadership, structure, and guidance to the Lab team to deliver professional services and deliverables aligned with the Lab’s priorities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage projects a range of strategic and operational activities including planning, project management, recruiting of staff, performance measurement and reporting, resources management and general administration

  • Provide leadership to the AiLECS Lab team in the delivery of high-level professional services and effective achievement of the lab’s priorities

  • Provide expert advice at both strategic and operational levels
