The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Fellow to join the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence within the Faculty of Information Technology. This position is in the newly created Environmental Informatics Hub and will collaborate with the Faculty of Science’s 21st Century Weather ARC Centre of Excellence and MSDI (Monash Sustainable Development Institute).
The Research Fellow will develop AI-based methods that support fine-grained weather analysis for sectors such as wind resources and prediction under climate change. In close collaboration with atmospheric and climate scientists, the Research Fellow will evaluate AI approaches regarding their potential in these applications. In this exciting role, you will develop, implement and test such models and produce reports and scientific papers on this work.
The successful candidate will have a PhD qualification in AI, computer science, atmospheric science, climate science. You will also have experience in applying AI and deep learning to solve real-world problems in scientific domains; ideally in atmospheric science or climate science.
