This unique role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our students by delivering an innovative and experiential learning experience that equips graduates with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a competitive global market.

As a Lecturer (Practice), you will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering curriculum and pedagogical practices informed by your professional experience. By bridging the gap between academia and industry, you will help create strong connections that enhance the student learning experience. Your contributions will help students gain valuable, industry-oriented skills through the innovative Master in Geographical Information Systems and Technology (MGIS&T) program, which is designed to upskill students from various disciplines with in-demand spatial skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, delivering, and coordinating specialised GIS&T units within the MGIS&T program.

  • Collaborating with academic colleagues to co-teach units and lead the coordination of the MGIS&T degree.

  • Developing industry-relevant curriculum and teaching materials that prepare students for professional roles in Earth, Atmosphere, and Environment fields.

  • Building and maintaining partnerships with industry, government, and professional bodies to drive faculty initiatives and increase student engagement in practical work experiences.

  • Supporting students throughout their learning journey by offering guidance and fostering connections with industry to enhance their professional development.

  • Contributing to the University’s goal of increasing participation in professional, industry-oriented learning activities.

The Ideal Candidate

You will bring substantial professional experience in the Geographical Information Science and Technology sector (including satellite remote sensing), coupled with a strong passion for education and a commitment to helping students succeed. Your ability to connect academic theory with industry practice will be key to delivering a rich and relevant learning experience.

In this role, you will not only shape the future of our graduates but also contribute to the growing reputation of Monash University as a leader in science education and professional engagement.
