The Opportunity

The Monash Law Faculty was established nearly 60 years ago to be a different kind of law school, with a pioneering spirit, an enterprising and inclusive approach, and a deep commitment to access to justice in all of its forms. Our publicly declared ambition is to offer the best broad based and experiential legal education available to law students and become a leading international, clinical and digital law school in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Faculty has a vibrant research culture, which is diverse, innovative and cross-disciplinary and has a governmental, professional, and social impact. We collaborate with world leaders in legal research and education and have demonstrated top-tier research-intensive performance.

The Dean of Law will lead the development and execution of the Faculty’s strategic plan, in response to the University’s Strategic Plan – Impact 2030, and position the Faculty at the forefront of Australian and global research, teaching and industry engagement. They will inspire staff and students, and cultivate deep relationships within the legal profession, industry, academia, government, and the broader community.

The Person

We seek a visionary and innovative leader to drive forward the Faculty’s education and research activities and take a leading role in building partnerships across diverse stakeholders, nationally and internationally.

With an international reputation and distinguished record of research and scholarship, the ideal candidate will demonstrate their success in driving education and research outcomes at a department, school or faculty level, in a research-intensive university environment. They will be a contemporary and innovative leader, with an ability to anticipate and adapt to changing trends in legal education and research and embrace innovative technology in teaching and research.
