Are you an experienced software development professional who enjoys staying hands-on while providing technical leadership to others?
We’re looking for a Technical Lead to provide technical expertise and leadership across the design, development and delivery of complex technology solutions. Working within the Core Development Services team, you’ll play a key role in shaping solutions, guiding developers and ensuring strong engineering standards across development and delivery.
This is a hands-on technical leadership position where you’ll work closely with developers, architects and stakeholders to turn complex requirements into scalable, secure and maintainable technology solutions.
You’ll contribute directly to development while providing technical direction, reviewing code, solving complex problems and helping build capability across the broader development team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the design, development and implementation of complex technology solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to developers across coding quality, security, performance and maintainability.
- Remain hands-on in the development of complex features, APIs, integrations and critical solution components.
- Lead technical design activities and collaborate with architects to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and objectives.
- Conduct code reviews and provide technical coaching and mentoring to developers.
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to assess new and emerging technologies.
- Support testing, deployment and production-readiness activities.
- Provide technical leadership when investigating and resolving complex production issues.
You’ll be an experienced software development professional who combines strong technical depth with the ability to lead and influence others.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Extensive software development experience, typically 10+ years, including significant full-stack development and technical leadership experience.
- Extensive commercial development experience with C# and .NET, including designing and developing secure, scalable and maintainable backend services and APIs.
- Strong experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and contemporary SPA frameworks, with Vue.js experience highly regarded.
- Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs, integrations, event-driven solutions and distributed applications.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including technologies such as AKS, Azure SQL and Azure Service Bus, or comparable cloud technologies.
- Strong understanding of relational database technologies and principles, including data modelling, schema design, indexing, query performance and data integrity.
- Strong experience with containerised application development and deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, object-oriented development principles and contemporary software engineering practices.
- Strong experience with Git-based source control, branching strategies, pull requests and collaborative development practices.
- Strong experience designing and working with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and modern application deployment practices.
- Strong understanding of application security, performance, observability, resilience and production-readiness.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical design discussions, conduct effective code reviews and establish engineering standards across development teams.
- Ability to evaluate new technologies through prototypes and proof-of-concepts and provide clear technical recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving capability, including the ability to lead the investigation and resolution of production issues.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts and influence technical decisions across developers, architects, product teams and business stakeholders.
