Location: Perth (based at Murrin Murrin)

 

This role will be based at Murrin Murrin (WA) on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth and will play an important role in delivering Aurizon's Safety Strategy and building safety capability across our mining services operations.

Reporting to the Principal Safety Partner, you will partner with operational leaders, frontline teams and client stakeholders to manage risk and improve safety performance.

Supporting a diverse operational portfolio spanning in-pit mining, off-road haulage, public road transport, maintenance, rail and terminal operations, you will gain exposure to a broad range of mobile equipment, operational risks and high-risk activities.

Through coaching, assurance and continuous improvement initiatives, you will help strengthen critical risk management and safety capability across the operation.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with operational leaders, frontline teams and client representatives to support safe and efficient mining operations.
  • Provide practical safety advice, coaching and support to strengthen safety capability and performance.
  • Support the management of transport, heavy vehicle and dangerous goods risks through effective risk management and assurance activities.
  • Conduct field-based inspections, safety interactions and control verification to assess compliance and critical risk effectiveness.
  • Support investigations, event reviews and the implementation of corrective actions and learnings.
  • Assist in the delivery of safety improvement initiatives, action plans and enterprise safety programs.
  • Help leaders embed strong safety, wellbeing and risk management practices.
  • Prepare safety reports and insights to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

About You

You are a safety professional who thrives in operational environments and enjoys partnering with leaders and teams to create safer workplaces. With a practical and collaborative approach, you build strong relationships across operational and client stakeholders to manage risk, strengthen safety culture and support operational performance.

You will also have:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (mandatory).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a safety role within a high-risk industry such as mining, transport, logistics, rail or bulk haulage.
  • Working knowledge of WHS legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting audits, investigations, critical risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to influence, coach and collaborate across teams and disciplines.
  • A current driver's licence.
  • Based in Perth.

Desirable:

  • ICAM Investigation training.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods transport, handling and storage requirements.
  • Experience working within client-operated mine sites or contractor-based environments.
  • Experience contributing to safety projects, change initiatives or operational improvement programs.
