Are you an experienced Locomotive Driver looking for a new challenge away from frontline operations?

Aurizon is seeking a Technical Trainer to help develop the next generation of locomotive drivers. This is an opportunity to leverage your operational experience and industry knowledge to coach, mentor and assess trainee drivers while contributing to a safer and more capable rail workforce.

About the Role

As a Technical Trainer, you will play a critical role in delivering and assessing train driver training programs, supporting trainees throughout their learning journey and ensuring they develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for safe rail operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering training and competency-based assessments for trainee locomotive drivers.
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to support learner development and performance.
  • Working with operational leaders to identify capability needs and training opportunities.
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of training materials and programs.
  • Promoting safe work practices and operational excellence across the business.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience as a qualified Locomotive Driver.
  • Strong operational rail knowledge and a commitment to safety.
  • A passion for developing and mentoring others.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent), or a willingness to obtain the qualification with Aurizon support.
  • Relevant train driving qualifications and experience.
