Are you an experienced technical trainer with strong logistics and maintenance capability, ready to lead training governance, assurance and delivery across a complex operational environment? Aurizon is looking for an experienced Principle Technical Trainer with a background in logistics and maintenance to lead a team of Technical Trainers.
About the role:
As the Principal Technical Training – Logistics & Maintenance, you will lead a team of technical trainers to deliver training, assessment and/or certification of employees and contractors in accordance with relevant standards. You will partner with leaders and operations to maintain training and competency standards across the enterprise, aligned to the Aurizon Training Governance Framework and RTO requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the provision of technical training development, delivery, assessment and assurance, including supporting the design and development of new programs, delivery methods and modes, and translating technical process updates into effective training.
- Support leaders to build Tutor/Trainer/RTA capability and competency across operations (technical and non-technical knowledge and skills).
- Lead governance and assurance activities (e.g., training needs analysis, content development, assurance and validation), including supporting regulator and RTO activities for the portfolio.
- Partner with broader SHEL teams, leaders and operations by providing technical and training subject matter expertise, including contributing to investigations and regulator activities as required.
- Support strategic deliverables and continuous improvement, escalating compliance or quality concerns and assisting with rectification as required.
- Support effective change management of safety and training changes and provide education/guidance on legislative training requirements.
- Maintain relevant operational skills (trade/technical) to effectively understand issues and engage credibly with the target audience.
- Travel to remote locations to provide coaching, training and assessment when required.
About you:
You are a confident people leader and technical training professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to translate operational requirements into high-quality training outcomes.
To be successful, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessing (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ industry experience in a logistics, maintenance or heavy industry field.
- Relevant qualifications enabling delivery of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) outcomes being trained.
- Minimum 5 years’ training experience.
- High level leadership, people management, negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong ability to engage and influence through written and verbal communication.
- Strong internal and external stakeholder engagement capability.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, codes/standards, principles, policies, procedures and guidelines, and vocational training/assessment principles.
- Capability strengths aligned to collaboration, effective communication, customer focus, managing complexity, persuasion, balancing stakeholders, decision quality and optimising work processes.
