About the Role:
Are you an experienced frontline leader with a strong focus on safety and operational performance? As Network Control Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the safe and efficient control of trains and on track vehicles across Aurizon’s Bulk Central rail network.
You will provide day to day leadership to Network Controllers, ensuring operational standards, safety requirements and business expectations are consistently met. This role is critical to maintaining network performance while fostering a strong safety culture and developing team capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion a strong safety culture aligned with Aurizon values and safety management systems.
- Provide frontline leadership to Network Controllers to support safe and efficient train control operations.
- Manage day‑to‑day network control activities and support operational continuity during incidents or disruptions.
- Proactively manage resourcing, including shift coverage, training requirements, leave and attendance.
- Review, develop and maintain operational documentation, including work instructions and procedures, to ensure clarity, compliance and consistent application across network control operations.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate with stakeholders to implement practical solutions.
- Coach, develop and support team members to build capability and support performance outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with industrial instruments, company procedures, safe working systems and legislative requirements.
About You
You are an experienced frontline leader with a strong focus on safety, people leadership and operational performance.
- Previous line leadership experience within a large‑scale logistics, transport or heavy industrial environment.
- Qualified Network Controller, or willingness to undertake training and develop capability in the role.
- Experience in train control operations, or the ability to develop a strong understanding of network control and safe working systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, including experience supporting safety leadership and incident management.
- Strong people leadership skills, including communication, task allocation, coaching and performance management.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365, supporting reporting, communication and day‑to‑day operational activities in a safety‑critical environment.
- Ability to operate effectively in a high‑pressure operational environment with competing priorities.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to analyse information and make sound operational decisions.
- Resilient, adaptable and able to build effective working relationships across operational teams.
