About the role: A key leadership role sits within the Civil Network Operations team and has responsibility for the Blackwater Depot. Based in Blackwater, which is a non-negotiable requirement, the Superintendent will be a visible and engaged leader with a transparent, supportive and passionate approach. The role provides leadership across Operations and rail activities by optimising organisational productivity, driving continuous process improvement, leading change initiatives, and building people capability to deliver the business strategy and plan.
- Lead and champion a safety culture which promotes, creates and maintains a safe approach in all aspects of the operation.
- Provide leadership and coaching of direct reports to achieve customer expectations through a result driven, customer focused and commercial culture.
- Provide coaching, expert advice and support to direct reports to achieve performance objectives, promote high performance teams and support continuous improvement activities.
- Develop potential successors and influence operational strategy.
- Apply conceptual and analytical skills to enhance and optimise delivery of services on time and in full by driving productivity and process improvements to meet performance standards.
- Manage financial and operational budgets, resources, on time performance and safety.
- Manage, lead and set priorities around scheduled, unscheduled, response and emergency requirements as designated.
About you: You are a capable and approachable operations leader with solid experience in rail environments. You have strong knowledge of rail operations, including coordination, terminal activities and infrastructure, and you lead with a practical, people focused approach to day-to-day performance.
You are comfortable managing budgets, solving problems and adapting to changing priorities, with sound commercial awareness and confidence using operational systems. Your collaborative communication style enables you to influence outcomes, build agreement across teams and deliver safe, reliable and efficient results
