Freight Operator 4 – Shunter Casual Opportunities

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join Aurizon as a Freight Operator, where you’ll play a vital role in keeping Australia’s freight moving safely and efficiently.

About the Role

As a Freight Operator, you’ll complete a comprehensive training program combining theory and hands-on experience. Key responsibilities include:

• Performing shunting and yard duties (including cleaning)
• Examining and certifying trains for departure readiness
• Conducting brake tests
• Safely unloading customer products
• Communicating effectively with depot personnel (face-to-face and via two-way radio)
  
  

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• Ability to obtain a Shunt Qualification (mandatory).  Training may be at an alternative location
• A current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence (mandatory)
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 roster with shifts up to 12 hours
• Strong commitment to safety, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service focus
