Location: Dry Creek, Adelaide.
As part of Aurizon’s Bulk Central maintenance team, the Regional Maintenance Specialist supports the safe, reliable and efficient operation of locomotives and rollingstock that move essential bulk commodities across South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. You’ll lead day‑to‑day maintenance activities, provide frontline technical and operational support, and ensure our assets remain available, reliable and ready to meet customer demand.
About the role
- Lead and support the team to meet performance targets, quality standards and operational priorities through clear direction, coaching and accountability.
- Monitor rosters, on‑time running, safety performance and key deliverables to ensure operations meet required benchmarks.
- Promote an “I know safe, I choose safe” culture by modelling safe behaviours and ensuring all activities align with safety, legislative and company requirements.
- Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement, collaboration and efficient problem‑solving across the operation.
- Ensure team capability through up‑to‑date training, competency management and clearly defined goals aligned to business plans.
- Lead incident investigations and support operational change and improvement projects that enhance productivity, efficiency, safety and customer outcomes.
About you:
- Certificate IV/Diploma in Frontline Management or equivalent experience, supported by a trade qualification and/or experience in locomotive on‑track repairs or recoveries (highly regarded).
- Advanced technical skills in troubleshooting, fault rectification, minor repairs and preventative maintenance on rollingstock or similar equipment.
- Demonstrated customer relationship management, commercial awareness and project management capability, including sound planning and scheduling knowledge.
- Strong safety leadership capability, including incident investigation, safety interactions, near‑miss reporting and behaviour‑based safety practices.
- Proven frontline leadership skills, including task allocation, clear communication, problem solving and effective performance management.
- Ability to engage and develop team members through strong relationship building, clear direction and constructive coaching.
