About the Role:
Aurizon is seeking a skilled and qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Port Services Maintenance team at Berth 29, Port Adelaide. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of our mobile plant assets. You’ll work within a structured maintenance program, tackling both scheduled and unscheduled tasks while maintaining our strong safety and operational standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on port mobile plant and infrastructure
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
- Completing risk assessments and adhering to WH&S procedures
- Scoping maintenance work and collaborating with planners to prioritise tasks
- Providing on-call support for urgent breakdowns when required
- Maintaining accurate records in asset management systems
- Identifying and implementing improvements to maintenance processes and asset reliability
About you:
We’re looking for a proactive and safety-focused professional with:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical or equivalent (mandatory)
- Proven mechanical trade experience (preferred)
- Auto electrical diagnostic skills (advantageous)
- Experience in the crane industry (advantageous)
- Strong background in heavy diesel servicing, mechanical maintenance, and fault diagnostics
- Ability to obtain a Maritime Safety Identification Card (MSIC)
- Competence with computer systems; SAP experience highly regarded
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to safety and compliance with WH&S standards
- Effective communication skills for liaising with planners and supervisors
- A current C Class driver’s licence (unrestricted or provisional)
