Aurizon has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Governance Team Leader to join the team in Brisbane. This role will be responsible for establishing and managing a simplified and standardised approach to Payroll governance and continuous improvement that supports a cost competitive service delivery.

About the role:

  • Ensure the Aurizon Group is delivering Payroll compliantly across superannuation, taxation, Awards, EAs, NES and legislative requirements.
  • Drive and lead continuous improvement and be an advocate for governance and risk processes.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance regarding relevant compliance and enterprise impacts.
  • Lead and coordinate audit activities for both internal and external reviews.
  • Support subject matter expert owners to ensure adherence to the policy framework and where appropriate support the development of training material.
  • Establish a framework for tracking and reporting on controls delivery and compliance improvement.
  • Review, develop and implement improvements to new and existing controls as well as administering the ongoing maintenance of controls documentation.
  • Establish and manage collaborative working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support EA and legislative change implementations, ensuring that payroll is set up correctly and risks are understood.

 About you: 

  1. Relevant tertiary degree or previous experience implementing quality frameworks that drive compliance.
  2. Ability to interpret Awards, Common Law and Enterprise Agreements.
  3. Extensive skills in managing a small technical team and track record in meeting frequent deadlines.
  4. Proven experience in a similar role.
  5. Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement projects.
  6. Proven experience delivering and supporting EA implementations and legislative changes.
  7. Experience working in audit or risk and controls highly regarded.
  8. Substantial level of conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  9. High level of negotiation and interpersonal communication skills that foster the development of business relationships and promote strategic outcomes.
  10. Strong organisational skills with a structured, detail-focused approach.
  11. Strong technical knowledge across super, tax, legislation, Awards and EAs.
