About the role: As part of Aurizon’s strategic commitment to decarbonisation and long-term sustainability, we’re seeking an experienced Decarbonisation Commercial Manager to drive commercial strategies and partnerships that accelerate our energy transition agenda.

In this pivotal leadership role, you’ll shape the commercial direction of Aurizon’s decarbonisation program—developing business cases, funding strategies, and strategic narratives that connect opportunities across the business and with external stakeholders.

You’ll work closely with internal commercial, finance and strategy teams, government bodies, and industry partners to identify and negotiate initiatives that deliver tangible commercial and environmental outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development of commercial strategies, frameworks, and funding models that support Aurizon’s decarbonisation objectives.
  • Manage and direct staff in the preparation of business cases that define opportunities and align with mid to long-term strategic plans.
  • Develop strategies for government funding applications and customer-funded initiatives.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and stakeholder engagement with customers, government, and industry groups.
  • Collaborate with internal commercial and legal teams to develop innovative contracting models.
  • Provide clear and strategic narrative updates to senior management on program direction and progress.
  • Identify connections between program objectives and broader corporate innovation and growth opportunities.

About you

You are a commercially astute leader with a proven ability to develop strategic frameworks and negotiate complex agreements within an industrial or infrastructure setting. You’re confident navigating across commercial, technical, and regulatory disciplines and have a passion for shaping the future of sustainable transport and logistics.

You’ll also bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in finance, business or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • High-level commercial acumen and strategic planning capability.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Extensive understanding of large-scale infrastructure or supply chain operations (rail industry knowledge highly regarded).
  • Experience developing and evaluating major investment projects.

What we offer you:

At Aurizon, we support the development and growth of our employees. With a national portfolio of operations, we offer long-term and exciting career opportunities.

Some of our benefits include:
