About the role:
We’re looking for qualified Boilermakers and Mechanical Fitters to join our hands-on maintenance team at Aurizon’s Dry Creek depot in Adelaide.
This is a trade-based, on-the-tools role, responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of Aurizon’s rollingstock – with a focus on wagons used across our Bulk Central business. You’ll carry out inspections, servicing, fault finding and mechanical or structural repairs that keep our freight fleet safe and operating efficiently.
These positions operate on a day and afternoon shift roster, with occasional Saturday work (approximately four times per year) and opportunities for paid overtime.
You will be responsible for:
- Undertaking scheduled examinations and inspections of rollingstock to identify faults or defects
- Performing mechanical and structural repairs, component changeouts, servicing, and modifications
- Safely controlling rollingstock movement within the work area in accordance with procedures
- Ensuring all work is completed to technical and operational specifications
- Supporting continuous improvement through safe work practices and accurate reporting
- Identifying material requirements to support efficient maintenance operations
About you:
This role suits experienced tradespeople ready to get stuck into day-to-day maintenance work.
- Boilermaker or Mechanical trade qualification (mandatory)
- Solid technical understanding of equipment function, fault finding, and defect identification
- Proven experience with hands-on maintenance, repair, or overhaul of machinery or industrial equipment
- Unrestricted C-Class Driver’s Licence
- Forklift Licence (preferred or willing to obtain)
- Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving ability
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically capable of performing trade tasks in a shift-based environment. A pre-employment rail medical is required.
