About the role:

Aurizon Network Asset Management is looking for a Structures Inspector to join the Structures Assets Team. Performing asset inspections on structures such as bridges and culverts, you will work as a pair of inspectors (in a broader team of 9) as you travel around the Blackwater and Moura rail systems ensuring the safety, reliability and performance of our structural assets. The role primarily includes:

  • Inspecting structures (including culverts, bridges, retaining walls, access gantries) to identify and record defects, assess condition and support information capture to inform maintenance and renewal requirements
  • Capturing high quality information including photos from various devices, including drones, to assist the team in understanding defects, condition and risk
  • Planning and organising your own travel arrangements in line with the relevant inspection period and location of assets
  • Examining infrastructure in accordance with Standards and Procedures and report findings and escalate where works are required to ensure the ongoing safety and resilience of the rail network
  • Carrying out audits and project supervision as required
  • Assist in the ongoing development and improvement of documented working processes, including leveraging technologies to better capture asset condition and defects

About you:

  • Open Driver’s Licence (mandatory)
  • Enjoy a largely field based role and regular travel - 70% field based, 30% in the office (often away 3 nights at a time)

Specific Skills:

  • A sound level of computer literacy in order to efficiently work with high levels of asset data / information across multiple systems
  • Ability to apply critically thinking - considering defects in the context of the asset use and performance across the lifecycle
  • Knowledge of structures, including defect types, maintenance methods, construction methodology, safety standards, systems and processes - highly regarded
  • Ability to understand the technical aspects of structural infrastructure (eg. Load paths, failure modes etc) – highly regarded

Qualifications and Experience

  • A background in and knowledge of Structures and/or Rail Track Infrastructure (Desirable).
  • Qualifications relevant to Structures and/or Rail Track Infrastructure (Desirable).
