As Aurizon continues to thrive in 2024, we are currently seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers to be based at our Avon (Northam) depot in Western Australia on a full-time arrangement. This residential role will be suited to an individual who is able to display superior teamwork skills, flexibility, a high level of safety awareness and excellent customer service.

About the role:

  • Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting, and marshalling.
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running.
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives. 

About you:

  • Strong commitment to safety and the Aurizon Safety Strategy “I Know Safe, I Choose Safe”.
  • Must be available to work 24/7 shift roster.
  • Experience in WA Safe working System is advantageous.
  • Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience.
  • A certificate IV in Rail Operations.
  • Current unrestricted Class C drivers’ licence.
