About the role: Join our highly skilled Electrical team as a Systems Cable Jointer. This role manages the Underground electrical cable assets in the Aurizon Rail network. This includes ensuring the power, communications and instrumentation cable systems remain safe and to an optimal operational performance standard.

This role would suit someone with either an electrical licence, experience installing underground cables or experience working with optical fibre cable.

Working an 8-day fortnight, you will be required to be available for afterhours call back on a rotational basis. Your main responsibilities will be: 

• Conduct routine and corrective maintenance and fault repair on underground cable assets.
• Undertake cable locations for planned excavation purposes.
• To record all maintenance and fault repair activities as conducted.
• To deliver tasks in a safe manner and ensure equipment continues operation in a safe and effective manner.
• To identify cable systems condition and report any issues deemed to be of concern.
• To participate actively with stakeholders to further develop maintenance and repair methods to deliver control, communications and signalling cable systems operation where any failures have minimal impact on train operations.

About you:

• Power Cable Jointers licence or an Electrical Licence (desirable).
• Certificate III in Telecommunications (Cabling)
• ACMA Open Cable registration with structured, underground, and optical fibre endorsements (desirable)
• Experience in location of underground service for excavation permits.
• Experience in testing and splicing optical fibres.
• Experience in testing and jointing underground electrical and instrumentation cable.
• C Class Drivers Licence
• Sound level of both written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work on a call out rotation.
• Able to work away from Home Depot when required.
