What does the job look like?

Linfox’s Intermodal business unit have an opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our Rail team based in West Melbourne. In this pivotal role, you will drive leadership of our Rail Transport operations teams, oversee the successful delivery of critical business objectives while upholding the highest standards of operational safety and compliance. Beyond operational excellence, you will play a strategic role in overseeing financial performance, ensuring resources are managed with precision and efficiency.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity, working Monday - Friday from 11am- 7pm. You will also be responsible for the below key areas:

• Design and execute dynamic labour planning strategies to drive efficient, cost-effective daily operations.
• Partner with Customer Account Managers to ensure operational activities are seamlessly aligned with evolving customer expectations.
• Lead proactive safety management, leveraging systems to track incidents, ensure compliance, and achieve key safety KPIs.
• Continuously review and refine run sheets, optimising route efficiency, reducing delays, and maximising resource utilisation.
• Champion a culture of operational excellence, embedding process improvements that deliver measurable productivity and service gains.

Are you the one?

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar Operational Leadership role within the Transport/Logistics industry, exposure to rail operations will be highly valued 
• Excellent stakeholder engagement with an ability to build strong relationships across all levels and effectively implement and manage supply contracts
• Proven capability to lead operational teams, drive outcomes and build high-performing, diverse workforces
• You have a sound commercial acumen with understanding of operational drivers such as cost control and budgeting
• You have an analytical and process-driven mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency
