The Opportunity
Reporting to the Network Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise and operational technology (OT) network environments that support Thiess' mining operations, autonomy platforms, and site communications.
Working across both corporate and remote mining environments, you'll deliver innovative networking solutions while ensuring reliability, security, and performance across critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leaders to identify opportunities to establish or expand Capability Hub services.
- Lead the deployment and configuration of Juniper switches, wireless access points, and network infrastructure across remote mining operations.
- Design and deliver resilient, secure, and low-latency network solutions that support mining technologies and autonomous operations.
- Support and maintain enterprise network environments including Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, Cisco ISE, Juniper Mist, and Cisco DNA Centre.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous optimisation of network services.
- Maintain and enhance network security controls, identity services, and access management frameworks.
- Collaborate across multi-vendor environments to ensure seamless integration of Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto technologies.
- Contribute to network architecture, technical standards, change management, and operational best practices.
- Build strong relationships with operational stakeholders, technology teams, telecommunications providers, and vendors to deliver business-focused outcomes.
About You
You are an experienced Network Engineer who thrives in complex operational environments and is passionate about delivering reliable, secure, and high-performing network solutions.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience supporting and deploying enterprise network infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on expertise across Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto technologies.
- Experience with Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA Centre, Juniper Mist, routing, switching, wireless, and network security platforms.
- Knowledge of high-availability networks, cloud-connected architectures, and network automation.
- Experience working within IT service management and incident management environments.
- Exposure to mining, industrial, or remote-site networks will be highly regarded.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIE, or PCNSA/PCNSE.
- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline (desirable).
