About the role

The Superintendent Mining role will assist Mining Manager to coordinate all mining supervisors in the workplace of the removal of overburden/inter burden in a safe, effective manner on time and within budget in a designated area.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor team or area performance and keeps people informed of progress to ensure delivery against objectives.
  • Manage workplace conflict
  • Identify the views of other business areas or teams to ensure a broad perspective is gained.
  • Regularly review the effectiveness of the critical controls for key risks with direct reports.
  • Recognise good HSE behaviours and performance.
  • Ensure early advice and recommendations to the Project Manager on areas of cost or service risk and opportunity.
  • Actively monitor, assess and provide recommended management initiatives to respond to potential and actual risks.
  • Commit significant resources (e.g. people, time, money) to achieve key or new business priorities.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, statutory obligations and Thiess policy.
  • Avoid situation resulting in a conflict of interest, bribery or the use of inducements to secure business.

About you

  • Senior High School or Graduate from Tertiary Degree in Mine Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years previous experience in a similar role experience in large open cut mining operation in Coal and Minerals of which at least one or two years in production/service supervision/ management role 
  • Comprehensive knowledge in mining equipment.
  • Has experience in Client relations
  • Have a good understanding of financial reporting & concepts
  • Certified in POP & POM
