The Opportunity

This position provides end-to-end oversight of Thiess’ ethics and conduct framework, ensuring investigations, reportable conduct matters, and employee relations cases are managed consistently, lawfully and in line with global standards.

Reporting to the Group Manager, Employee and Industrial Relations, this role leads the offshore investigation team and partners closely with Executive Leaders, Legal, Compliance, and Reportable Conduct Groups to identify trends, mitigate risk, and continuously strengthen governance, capability and systems.

This is a highly trusted role for a seasoned professional who brings sound judgement, credibility, and the ability to lead complex and sensitive matters with integrity, fairness and professionalism.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the establishment of an offshore Investigation Team, aimed at ensuring consistent, high-quality and timely investigations
  • Owning and governing the organisation’s ethics and conduct case management system, including data integrity, workflow design, reporting and analytics
  • Overseeing the intake, triage, investigation and closure of ethics, conduct and ER matters in line with legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Acting as a senior escalation point for complex, sensitive or high-risk investigations
  • Establishing and maintaining global investigation standards, frameworks and training programs
  • Preparing and presenting insights, trends and risk reporting to Executive Leadership, Group and Board Committees
  • Identifying opportunities to strengthen governance, controls, automation and investigation capability across the business
  • Partnering with Legal, HR and Risk & Compliance to ensure best-practice outcomes across jurisdictions

About You

You are an accomplished ethics, investigations or employee relations specialist with experience operating in complex, highly regulated environments. You are confident engaging with senior and executive stakeholders and bring strong governance, analytical and leadership capability.

You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Law (highly desirable), Human Resources, Employment/Industrial Relations, Business, Psychology or Behavioural Sciences
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Law, IR, Governance, Compliance or Risk (desirable)
  • Professional certification such as Certified Workplace Investigator (AWI, AHRI or equivalent) (desirable)
  • Significant experience in ethics, investigations, employee relations or compliance within large or global organisations
  • Proven expertise in investigation governance, reportable conduct frameworks and case management systems
  • Experience leading teams, including offshore or remote capability models
  • Strong understanding of procedural fairness, employment legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • High-level analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
