About the role

This role is responsible for ensuring the creation and upkeep of effective and precise technical training and assessment resources that meet the needs of the business. This includes incorporating industry best practices and training standards consistently across Thiess' operational jurisdictions.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and mentor the technical training and content development team to ensure high-quality, consistent outputs across projects.
  • Oversee the implementation of training materials and programs, ensuring alignment with operational needs and Thiess Institute guidelines. 
  • Coordinate the production, formatting, and publishing of training materials across platforms (e.g., LAAMP, Learning Portal). 
  • Monitor training delivery progress, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met. 
  • Collect and analyse feedback from trainers and trainees to identify areas for improvement and escalate actionable insights into the content owner or Lead. 
  • Supervise the preparation, packaging, and version control of training materials, including PowerPoint decks, assessments, and facilitator guides. 
  • Ensure training content adheres to established templates, naming conventions, and quality assurance (QA) guidelines. 
  • Conduct regular QA checks on training materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with organisational standards. 
  • Assist in the rollout of eLearning modules and digital learning solutions, coordinating with instructional designers and content support. 
  • Track and report on training content completion status, deployment progress, and user adoption metrics.

About you

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in education, Instructional Design, Organisational Development, or a Technical Field relevant to the mining or heavy equipment industry.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in training, competency-based learning development, and assessment delivery within a mining, construction, or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing training materials aligned with regional standards and operational requirements.
  • Able to contribute to the implementation of training systems and learning technologies (e.g., LAAMP or equivalent LMS).
  • Able coordinate with regional trainers and SMEs to address operational training needs.
  • Able to supervise and mentor graphic designers, instructional designers, or content developers.
  • Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support continuous improvement in training design and delivery.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to engage and communicate effectively with SMEs, regional trainers, and operational leaders.
  • Able to facilitate discussions to ensure alignment of training content with operational requirements.
  • Effective in managing multiple projects and adjusting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Able to Support quality assurance and version control processes for training content.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership, team collaboration, and influencing skills to achieve training objectives.
  • Able to apply resilience, adaptability, and conflict resolution to support a respectful and productive work environment.
