What you’ll do

Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, this role is a key technical authority within the Finance function. You’ll support the delivery of Thiess Group statutory reporting obligations, ensure strong governance and controls, and provide authoritative technical accounting advice on complex transactions.

As a trusted Subject Matter Expert (SME), you’ll work closely with senior leaders, auditors, and cross‑functional stakeholders to strengthen reporting integrity and support informed decision‑making at Group and Board level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly Group financial reporting packs in line with IFRS.
  • Lead preparation and review of half‑year and full‑year statutory accounts, including the Annual Report.
  • Coordinate half‑year and annual external audits, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and timely filings across all global jurisdictions.
  • Provide expert technical accounting advice on complex transactions, contracts, and business initiatives.
  • Prepare technical accounting papers and position memos for senior leadership, auditors, and governance forums.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of new and emerging accounting standards across the Group.
  • Act as a senior finance leader and trusted advisor, mentoring team members and building technical capability.

What you’ll bring

You are a technically strong, commercially astute finance professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys influencing at senior levels.

You will bring:

  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting, statutory accounts, and group consolidation within a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong experience managing external audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Deep technical accounting expertise, including complex transactions and contract assessments.
  • Proven experience implementing new accounting standards and leading change.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of IFRS.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear, practical advice.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong governance mindset with a focus on controls, risk, and compliance.
  • Experience with complex leasing and corporate structuring (highly regarded).
