About the role
The Maintenance Planning Superintendent is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and effective execution of day-to-day maintenance planning activities to support project operations. This role ensures high-quality maintenance standards are achieved, delivering reliable and available plant and equipment to meet production requirements.
As a key member of the project’s maintenance leadership team, the Maintenance Planning Superintendent provides clear leadership and direction to Planning and Warehousing Teams, ensuring maintenance strategies, planning processes, and resource allocation are fully aligned with operational and production objectives.
This role is a on a 5/2, 4/3, 8/6 roster arrangement FIFO from Perth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, influence, and empower direct reports to effectively plan and execute maintenance activities to achieve client and Thiess performance targets.
- Monitor maintenance execution to ensure compliance with the approved maintenance plan and operational priorities.
- Review and approve purchase requisitions within delegated authority limits, ensuring appropriate governance and cost control.
- Monitor and analyse daily and weekly operating costs, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Manage and administer equipment warranty claims to maximise cost recovery and supplier accountability.
- Oversee undercarriage maintenance strategies and provisions to optimise asset life and control operating costs. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
- Ensure subcontractors are utilised efficiently and deliver value in line with contractual and operational expectations.
- Maintain regular consultation with Maintenance Planners, the Maintenance Manager, and Production Superintendents to ensure maintenance schedules align with production requirements.
- Support the coordination and management of freight and logistics in accordance with the maintenance plan. Actively participate in relevant maintenance, planning, and operational meetings to ensure alignment and effective communication across the project.
About you
- Trade qualification / Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications / experience
- Experience in a Mobile Mining Plant Maintenance in Open-Cut mining environment
- Accounting and budgeting skills, including ability to monitor costs in line with budget requirements
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Experience in JDE advantageous
