The opportunity
As a HR Business Partner at Thiess, you’ll take a lead role in partnering with our corporate functions to build the people capability needed to deliver on our strategic and operational goals. You will have the opportunity to partner with senior leaders and shape and embed initiatives that strengthen culture, lift performance and future‑proof our workforce. This Brisbane-based role offers true business partnering — balancing strategic work with practical on-the-ground support across our corporate teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong, influential partnerships with corporate leaders, providing proactive and strategic HR guidance
- Serve as the primary HR contact on-site, offering hands-on support to leaders and employees
- Lead complex workplace investigations and contribute to business development planning and negotiations
- Deliver expert coaching across the full employee lifecycle, including performance, capability development, engagement, remuneration, policy and ER matters
- Provide confident, solutions-focused assistance on conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and workplace disputes
- Collaborate closely with the Queensland HR and IR teams to drive consistent and cohesive HR support
- Champion people, culture, and capability initiatives — including diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and community programs
- Support the HR Manager in identifying and delivering continuous improvement opportunities across HR practices
- Actively model and promote Thiess’ values in all interactions
About you
You’re a proactive, confident, and adaptable HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values the balance between strategic input and operational delivery.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- Experience in a senior HR advisory or business partnering role, ideally within the mining, construction or heavy industry sectors
- Proven ability to work autonomously while building strong on-site and remote relationships
- Confidence in managing sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion
- Strong capability in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- High-level organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
