What you’ll do

This role is pivotal in ensuring Thiess survey standards are established, maintained, and supported through correct equipment, processes, and trained staff. You will also oversee roster coverage for Senior Surveyors and support new project start-ups.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver statutory surveyor services for a Queensland coal mine.

· Manage and guide Senior Surveyors, including leave coverage planning.

· New project survey establishment.

· Establish and maintain Thiess Management System (TMS) survey processes on projects.

· Provide leadership in survey troubleshooting and operational support.

· Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and environmental requirements.

· Oversee survey assets, equipment calibration, and procurement.

· Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

· Formal Education: Tertiary qualification in Surveying or equivalent.

· Certifications: UAV Operators Certificate (Australia) and Mining “O” Endorsement for Queensland.

· Experience:

o Extensive mine surveying experience in large-scale open-cut operations.

o Proven supervisory and leadership capability.

· Technical Skills:

o Proficiency in Vulcan/Deswik, Maptek Point Studio, photogrammetry software, and Trimble equipment.

o Knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements for Qld Mine Surveyors.
