The Opportunity:

Thiess is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Regional Health & Safety Advisor. In this role, you will support projects across the Australia East region in implementing and maintaining effective health and safety management systems. You will provide direct site support to site management and HS functional teams, promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards.

This role requires mobility and regular travel to various project sites within the region. Based in our Brisbane office and working (at least) 50% of time on site, you will play a key role in risk management, audits, training, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Support management in maintaining compliance with all health, safety and environmental laws and company standards.
  • Engage with key stakeholders as a subject matter expert.
  • Facilitate risk assessments and incident investigations (including ICAM).
  • Deliver Health and Safety training and assist with audits and compliance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance of documentation that aligns with project management systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to HSE strategy development.
  • Take proactive corrective action for all potential hazardous situations.
  • Actively participate in meetings, toolbox talks, and community initiatives.

About you:

  • Tertiary qualification in health and safety management systems or environmental management/safety auditing and training.
  • Experience in health and safety within mining, heavy industry, or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, auditing, and incident investigation.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and contemporary HS practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and related systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across dispersed teams.
