About the Role:

As a Specialist, Category Management, you will play a key role in supporting the strategic and operational outcomes across the mining equipment category by leading sourcing initiatives, market analysis, supplier engagement and procurement activities with a focus on cost optimisation, risk mitigation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in developing and executing sourcing strategies for mining equipment, maintaining key documentation, supplier profiles, and spend data.
  • Prepare RFQs, evaluate supplier responses, and support negotiations, purchase orders, and contract administration in line with company policies.
  • Build strong supplier relationships, gather product and service insights, monitor performance, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Oversee key OEM agreements, including KPI reporting, quarterly reviews, dispute resolution and rise-and-fall provisions.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, finance, and HSE teams to align procurement with business needs and present category performance updates.
  • Provide procurement support and guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient processes.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Education & Experience: A Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field is highly regarded.
  • Core Skills: 5+ years’ experience in strategic procurement or category management within the mining or heavy industries with knowledge of mining equipment markets and supplier landscape.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with outstanding negotiation skills and a strong understanding of mining/construction industry standards. Proficiency in systems like JD Edwards and strong technical capabilities are essential, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers.
