About the Role
As a Senior HR Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in embedding people strategies that support operational success. You’ll be a trusted advisor to site leaders and teams, providing expert guidance across all facets of human resources while driving a positive and values-led workplace culture.
This role offers the best of both worlds — site engagement and corporate collaboration — with a Monday to Friday roster, alternating between time on-site and at our Brisbane or Mackay office.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR contact on-site, providing hands-on, day-to-day support to managers and employees
- Lead complex workplace investigations and contribute to Enterprise Agreement negotiations
- Deliver expert advice and coaching across the full employee lifecycle — including performance management, engagement, remuneration, policy, learning and development, and employee relations
- Provide practical, solutions-focused support on conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and disputes
- Collaborate with the broader Queensland HR and IR teams to ensure cohesive service delivery
- Champion people and culture strategies, including diversity, inclusion, and community initiatives
- Partner closely with the HR Manager and contribute to continuous improvement across all HR practices
- Promote and model Thiess' core values in all aspects of your role
About You
You’re a proactive, confident, and adaptable HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values the balance between strategic input and operational delivery.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- Experience in a senior HR advisory or business partnering role, ideally within the mining, construction or heavy industry sectors
- Proven ability to work autonomously while building strong on-site and remote relationships
- Confidence in managing sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion
- Strong capability in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- High-level organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
What Thiess Can Offer You
- Flexible Monday to Friday roster: one week on-site, one week in Brisbane or Mackay office
- Competitive remuneration including site allowance and discretionary annual bonus
- Camp accommodation or local living allowance while on site
- Ongoing career development, training, and leadership pathways
- Access to health and wellbeing initiatives through AIA Vitality
- Salary continuance insurance and novated leasing options
- Corporate discounts on health insurance, travel, and lifestyle brands
