About The Role
Located five kilometres south of Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Mt Arthur Coal is an open cut mine, producing thermal coal.
 
The Senior Mining Engineer will be responsible for development and rollout of efficient mining plans, schedules and drill and blast designs. As the facilitator of the planning process, the role requires strong collaboration with key stakeholders. This role will also work with the client mine planning team to provide designs, reserves and schedules to support the execution of the mine plan. Key duties also include:
  • Optimisation of designs, schedules and fleet mix across the planning horizon to deliver for the business and client,
  • Drill and Blast systems,
  • Work closely with client mine planning team to coordinate the Thiess plan,
  • Work with key stakeholders on short term planning & operational issues,
  • Communicate any changing plans across the wider team,
  • Develop strong working relationships with the operations team,
  • Coal reconciliation analysis,
  • Mine rehabilitation design, planning and execution,
  • Weekly and Monthly production reporting
  • Flexible work arrangements may be considered for the role.
About You
  • Demonstrated commitment to Thiess principles of Discover, Accountable, Respectful & Empowered.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years’ operational mining engineering experience (open cut preferred).
  • Experience with Vulcan, Deswik, or similar software
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team environment.
  • A commitment to the best practice of health and safety at all time
  • Experience with Spry Software will be highly regarded
  • Excellent behavioural, time management, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
