About the role

As our Health, Safety & Training Manager, based on-site at our Peak Downs project in Moranbah, you will lead safety strategies and initiatives that foster and maintain a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices.

Reporting to the Project Manager and as a key member of the site’s senior leadership team, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Influence and provide support to your peers in order to achieve our vision of every safe every day.
  • Your 'hands on' approach, clear focus and effective leadership will contribute to the implementation of project safety management plans
  • Motivate people to ensure ownership of healthy & safety across all levels of the project as well as to develop and ensure the effectiveness of the health & safety system.
  • Oversee a team of Health, Safety and Training professionals ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, and in line with legislation.
  • Lead the safety culture on site to ensure the safety of all persons on site
  • Manage Projects and budgets to deadlines

Requirements

  • A minimum of a diploma in OHS with Tertiary qualifications in safety or a similar field is highly regarded
  • At least five years' experience in a similar role with extensive experience in an operational mining environment
  • Extensive experience working with workers' compensation, risk management and incident investigations
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to influence and implement strategic and cultural change
  • Have outstanding skills with the Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
