About the role 

As our next Health and Safety Advisor you will report to the project Health, Safety & Training Manager and support the maintenance and effectiveness of the site's Safety and Health Management System. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly are key to your success. This role will include a focus on occupational health aspects within the workplace; you will be responsible for providing coordination and technical advice in relation to occupational health, injury management and hygiene matters.

The Lake Vermont project is located 19kms north of Dysart, working an 8/6 roster, your main responsibilities will include, but not limited to: 

  • Assist with the coordination of all functional safety issues including the maintenance of relevant records and reports 
  • Play a pivotal role in the implementation of the injury management process 
  • Drive a strong safety culture and liaise with other departments to ensure achievement of the site's safety objectives 
  • Champion all applicable Health and Safety Laws, Regulations and statutory obligations at all times 
  • Assist site department owners in the completion and facilitation of Workplace Risk Assessments and Incident Investigations
  • Conduct on site D&A Testing
  • Coordinate and manage incident reporting inclusive work and non-work-related injury rehabilitation and illness
  • Align the health and injury management processes with company policies and procedures including workplace insurance claims.
  • Assist Supervisors and employees with the Return-to-Work process by developing proactive and timely strategies including individual health management plans
  • Assist with the coordination of the hygiene exposure monitoring program with the site service provider
  • Assist in the development and delivery of health promotion initiatives for Lake Vermont workforce

About you 

  • A genuine passion for the safety and health of our front-line personnel  
  • Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety
  • S1, S2, S3 and G2 
  • Standard 11
  • Experience in injury management and return to work coordination
  • The ability to facilitate ICAM Investigations 
  • The ability to populate and facilitate risk assessments 
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders 
  • Strong computer skills
