About the role

The Manager Mining will assist Project Manager to co-ordinate all mining operations in the workplace while promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe environment for everyone at work. Reporting to the Project Manager and based on site on a 42/21 roster, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high quality solutions and result.

In this role, you will:

  • Direct and lead mining operation activities in term of support mining project manager to ensure production is achieved in accordance with TGS, project parameters, project schedule, budget, in compliance with company’s project safety and environmental policy;
  • Actively monitor, assess and provide recommended management initiatives to respond to potential and actual risks;
  • Ensure early advice and recommendations to the Project Manager on areas of cost or service risk and opportunity;
  • Ensure that our conditions and culture motivate the performance and longevity of our employees i.e.; we have a performance culture supported by role clarity, stretch targets and accountability;
  • Ensure the selection of projects that match objectives of Business Plan by ensuring risks in tender and contract conditions are recognised and accounted for;
  • Plan, direct, monitor and reconcile the technical aspect of the mining operations including daily, short to long term (annual) plans, operational performance, blast design and sequencing, rehabilitation, drainage and road design, to assist in achieving agreed coal production targets;
  • Familiar with the current Mine Plan and future deployment of equipment within area of responsibility;
  • Check daily production figures and use them to address the problem areas;
  • Minimize coal losses and dilution when removing inter burden to maximize the reverse;
  • Ensure ROM areas are maintained with good drainage and minimize contamination during loading;
  • Analyse and review the system, procedures and equipment utilised within the mine and recommend improvements to enhance coal production;
  • Expert with Nickel's Mining Operations.
  • Develop standards and procedures of work that can be applied across operations;
  • Consistently support the core behaviours that will success on the project;
  • Maintain and facilitate clear communication with all stakeholders, clients, customers, suppliers with respect to operational capability, performance, and resource requirements.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification (degree) in Mine Engineering or related mining discipline – essential; must have 5 years experiences as Manager Mining experience with stable employment background with a minimum of 10 years professional experience in large Nickel mining operation of which at least two or three years in production/ service supervision/ management role.
  • Have experience at mine planning, subcontract management, cost management and managing staff; Comprehensive knowledge in mining equipment, financial reporting & concepts ; Hold POM certificate of Mine Energy Department is desirable; OHS&E requirements Legislative and statutory requirements
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; good in coaching/mentoring and negotiation/mediation; good analytical; conflict resolution; sound decision making skills; excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
