About the role

Thiess is currently seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Curragh North project on a 8/6 roster. The Curragh North Project is situated 30km North of Blackwater, in Central Queensland.  

As our next Mining Engineer reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results. 

  • Use your skills to design and develop rolling weekly excavator plans and schedules for the mining operation. 
  • Provide designs and any required design amendments to suit operational requirements. 
  • Coordinate plans and schedules and monitoring of actual progress with benchmarks. 
  • Assist in the management of the weekly dig/dump plans in consultation with the Mining Superintendents and Supervisors. 
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of the Weekly Plan and site Safety Health and Environmental standards to ensure safe and sustainable mine standards 
  • Provide information to relevant staff to assist in the End of Month reporting requirements. 
  • Utilise in house software and data capture software to run reports as required 
  • Utilise your skills to continually aim for innovative solutions. 

 

About you

  • Prior experience working as a mining engineer on an operational open-cut mine
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
  • Proficient in MS Office and mine design, planning and scheduling packages;  
  •  Planning, design and scheduling skills
