Thiess is seeking an experienced Auto Electrician for a permanent employment opportunity working on our Curragh North, Peak Down and Caval Ridge coal mining projects.

Reporting into the Maintenance Supervisor, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.

We currently have opportunities available at the following sites:

Curragh North – Blackwater QLD

  • BIBO from Yeppoon, Rockhampton, and Mackay however you can salary sacrifice your flights.  
  • Even time roster of 7/7 and 12hr days/nights on offer to provide a balanced lifestyle.
  • Accommodation at Banksia Camp with busses to site
  • Range View camp - up to 45 mins from site
  • Living off camp allowance for Blackwater residence only

Peak Downs – Moranbah QLD

  • Flights provided from Brisbane to Moranbah by Thiess
  • BIBO provided by Thiess from Mackay and Townsville
  • Camp is based at Civeo camp in Dysart, enjoyable lifestyle with access to local cafes, restaurants, gyms, and other facilities. 
  • Even time roster of 7/7 and 12.5hr days/nights on offer to provide a balanced lifestyle.

Caval Ridge – Moranbah QLD

  • Flights provided from Brisbane to Moranbah by Thiess
  • BIBO provided by Thiess from Mackay and Townsville
  • Caval Ridge camp based at the Buffel Park Village - 5 minutes from site! Offering accommodation, meals, wet mess and 2 gym facilities.
  • Even time roster of 7/7 and 12.5hr days/nights on offer to provide a balanced lifestyle.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform the servicing, repair and maintenance of mobile mining equipment in accordance with Thiess servicing and maintenance procedures.
  • Complete general maintenance, breakdowns, services, and component change outs to a high regard
  • Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, OEM and computer-based systems
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are always maintained.
  • Conduct required inspections to maximise equipment utilisation.
  • Running data, power, radio and GPS antenna cables through bulkhead, panels, and access both inside and outside production equipment compartments on heavy mining machinery
  • Provide high-quality installations including mountings, wiring, and testing of equipment.
  • Perform basic configuration of 802.11b/g wireless networks.
  • Investigate and resolve faults, and carry out preventative maintenance routines on FMS and machine guidance systems fitted onto Excavators, Dozers, Drills, Trucks, Graders, and Light Vehicles
  • Ensure all activities are completed in a safe manner.

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent
  • Refrigerated handling License.
  • Post-trade experience working in the mining and heavy earthmoving equipment including Caterpillar, Hitachi and Liebherr would be desirable.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • C Class driver’s licence is mandatory for this role
