The role of Leader of Direct marketing and Automation helps achieve Suncorp New Zealand (SNZ)’s strategy by working with teams across the business to deeply understand our data and translate it into effective workflows that deliver customer communications and conversations through marketing automation. The successful candidate will be joining at an exciting time as we review our marketing automation platform, looking for new opportunities to simplify and scale our digital journeys. They will work closely with our Chapter lead in technology and agencies on this work. 

The successful applicant will be comfortable and familiar with navigating data layers and data relationships to figure out customer profiles and engagement opportunities.  Even more important is their ability to understand what the available data actually represents from a customer perspective, connect the dots between the two, and develop workflows that deliver effective engagement and communications to customers through automation.

Key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Working with campaign and communications colleagues, then developing workflows that turn complex sets of data into effective and accurate customer communications and conversations.
  • Operationalise these workflows in Salesforce Marketing and Data Cloud or Adobe Campaign.  Agency support will be available as required.
  • Working closely with stakeholders across the business to generate support for ideas and solutions for further improving customer experiences by leveraging marketing automation capabilities.
  • Managing the automation activation roadmap and tracking deliverables, including any additional development and integration with adjacent Salesforce and Adobe products.
  • Developing strong relationships with data Subject Matter Experts across different areas of the business (to ensure campaign accuracy and optimisation).
  • Bridge the gap between external automation agencies and internal stakeholders in harnessing and managing data to deliver automated customer experiences.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and/or optimise communications to create better customer experiences and business efficiencies.
  • Be the subject matter expert for Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

The successful candidate will relish the opportunity to work with various teams across SNZ to turn data into automated, excellent customer communications and experiences.  The role provides a great blend of stakeholder engagement, communication and analysis.

What we are looking for:

  • Passion for working in a customer-focused area
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
    • in a business, marketing, financial or operational analyst role;
    • or in a direct marketing / database marketing role.
  • Knowledge of SQL, HTML and CSS is an advantage
  • The ability to engage senior stakeholders and technical stakeholders effectively
  • The ability to get across multiple data options quickly, and to understand which data lenses to consider and use when looking at a communications opportunity
  • The ability to view the world through the lens of business needs and customer opportunities, as well as through data and workflow parameters
  • An excellent understanding of how effective data workflows are built, and the ability to develop these into automated campaigns
  • Strong organisational and commercial acumen
  • Someone who is a proactive self-starter, detailed, and confident collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders
