Private Equity Principal Finance - Vice President

As a Vice President within our Private Equity Principal Finance Group in New York, you will have the opportunity to be in a career-track position with significant leadership and upward mobility.

With 6-9 years’ investment banking and/or investing experience, you will be given considerable responsibility that includes the following:

  • From an investing standpoint: sourcing investment opportunities, conducting industry and company research, overseeing due diligence, financial analysis, financial models, presentations and investment committee memoranda.
  • From a capital formation standpoint: leading capital raise assignments on an advisory basis, lead raising of LP or co-invest capital into Macquarie SPV’s on deal by deal basis, and / or syndication of existing portfolio assets

You will have the opportunity to source, diligence and execute deals, from both an investment and a capital raising standpoint, which will entail the following:

  • Using network/ relationships to originate unique opportunities which fit the strategy of the platform
  • Leading due diligence and evaluation of principal investment
  • To extent there is an advisory / capital raising component of a transaction, structure and execute the capital raise or syndication to co-investors
  • Execute and drive principal investment to completion; ongoing monitoring of the position through quarterly reviews and management interaction

You will heavily interact with the senior management, and monitor/train junior members of the team. You will also help manage and track the performance and strategic direction of existing portfolio companies. Bringing Private equity, venture capital, or other junior debt/equity investment experience is a plus. You must have strong analytical, modelling, presentation, research, and interpersonal skills. In addition, you must be detail-oriented, able to hit the ground running, and comfortable working in a flexible and entrepreneurial work environment.

The Private Equity Principal Finance Group represents Macquarie Capital's merchant banking activities, providing flexible capital to companies to underpin growth, whether organic or through bolt-on acquisitions, and to provide alternative balance sheet solutions to traditional capital markets, including private equity and debt investments. The team works hand in hand with Macquarie Capital's investment banking platform to source, develop, structure, analyze, negotiate and complete investments across the capital structure, with a focus on private equity or equity-like investments. The team invests directly in LBOs, private equity, growth, late stage venture, and mezzanine transactions with investment sizes ranging from $25m to $300m.
