Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean, the Admission Associate will support our prospective and admitted students and their families from February to May 2026. The role involves conducting information sessions, representing the College at virtual or in-person recruiting events, assisting with admitted student day visits, and communicating with students and families via phone and email. Additional duties may include assisting with event programming or evaluating transfer application files, depending on office needs.
Job Duties
- 30% - Serve as the Admission Officer (AO) of the day, presenting in-person information sessions for prospective students and families visiting campus. Respond to email and phone inquiries, providing accurate and helpful information regarding admission and campus life. - (Essential)
- 25% - Conduct virtual information sessions, providing a detailed overview of the College. Manage questions during webinars, ensuring an engaging and informative experience for participants. - (Essential)
- 20% - Assist with the Tiger for a Day (TFAD) program by greeting admitted students and families visiting campus. Help connect them with their current student hosts and ensure a smooth, welcoming experience. - (Essential)
- 15% - Support the planning and execution of admitted student events, including "Experience Occidental" and programming for underserved populations. Help organize regional off-campus receptions to connect with admitted students and their families. - (Essential)
- 5% - Assist with the campus visit check-in process for daily visitors using our client relationship management system, Slate, to ensure an efficient experience for prospective students and their families. - (Essential)
- 5% - Participate in the Spring Reading Season, reviewing transfer applications for Fall 2026. Evaluate application materials, including transcripts, essays, recommendation letters, and standardized test scores. Submit detailed evaluation notes and participate in weekly check-ins. Seasonal readers contribute to the holistic review process and may participate in committee discussions . - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Communication, Business Administration, Liberal Arts or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in admissions, whether professional or volunteer.
- Proficiency with various technologies, including Zoom and other video conferencing platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
- Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
- Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.
- Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities.
- Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
- Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $25.00/hr - $29.50/hr
