Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Oxy Arts, the Post-Baccalaureate Fellow is a part-time 20 hours per week position. This role works with the visiting curator in residence and visiting Wanlass artist in residence in both their faculty role to plan and implement course learning, and in their curatorial and artistic role to plan and implement research, OXY ARTS exhibition, programming and catalog.

 

Job Duties

  • 25% - Faciliate all course related support for visiting Wanlass artist including course prep, student support, visiting guest speakers, field trips, projects, etc. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Support exhibition preparation with visiting artists and curators and including planning, outreach, logistics, curatorial assistance, press, promotion, etc. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Support exhibition catalog support with visiting artist and curators. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Assist with other tasks related to exhibitons, programming and departmental support as assigned, including but not limited to communications, evaluations, guest relations and gallery support. - (Essential)

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2024 awarded Occidental College Bachelor’s degree from Art & Art History or Studio Art departments.
  • Engagement and familiarity with Occidental College departments, protocols.
  • A demonstrated interest in curatorial research, socially engaged art practices, program planning and implementation, organization and editing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong commitment to a quality work product.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
  • Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity. Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities.
  • Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups.

 

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE:  $20.00.hr
