What you will be doing in this role
As a Registered Nurse on the Knight Ward, our 40-bed General and Colorectal Surgery Unit, you’ll be at the heart of patient care, supporting individuals through their post-surgery recovery. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in patients’ lives, providing compassionate care to those undergoing gastroenterology, colorectal, and general surgeries. You’ll be responsible for ensuring each patient feels supported, safe, and comfortable during their stay.
You’ll be part of a dynamic, close-knit team where collaboration is key, and everyone works together to provide exceptional care. Reporting directly to the Nurse Unit Manager, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to grow and develop your surgical nursing skills, whether you’re already experienced or looking to expand your expertise in this specialty. It’s an exciting time to join a department that values both professional development and the importance of a positive, supportive workplace culture.
Who we’re looking for
- A Registered Nurse with at least 12 months of acute care experience in a hospital setting, ideally within surgical or medical units.
- Experience in colorectal or gastrointestinal surgery nursing is highly desirable, but we are also open to candidates who are eager to learn and develop their skills in this specialty.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage post-operative care and complex patient needs.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on patient-centred care and collaboration.
- A flexible team player who is willing to adapt and work within a rotating roster, including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends.
- Must hold full Australian working rights and be able to provide evidence upon request.
- A compassionate, empathetic approach to patient care, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
